Avon Protection has presented its one millionth S10 mask award to General Sir Kevin O’Donoghue, Defence Equipment and Support’s Chief of Defence Materiel. The award represented a significant milestone for Avon, and proves the trust users have in the ability of this mask to fully protect them against the multiple threats faced in today’s terrorist world.
“We were delighted to welcome Sir Kevin to our plant here in Wiltshire”, says David Evans, Non-Executive Director of Avon Rubber p.l.c. “Sir Kevin’s visit was in recognition of the major part Avon has in protecting the UK’s soldiers against the historical, current and future CBRN threat, and goes to prove how highly thought of and reliable the S10 really is. We hope that Sir Kevin enjoyed his visit, and look forward to supporting the MoD for many years to come.”
Avon Protection is widely acknowledged as the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of CBRN respiratory protection equipment. It has been supplying respirators to the UK Ministry of Defence for over 80 years, with the S10 being the mask of choice for over 20 years. Alongside the S10, Avon also manufactures the extensively used CE and NIOSH approved FM12, the “next generation” 50 series (comprising the C50, FM50, the US equivalent of which is the Joint Services General Respirator, and FM53, the first choice of Special Forces around the world) and the short duration CE approved EH20 and NIOSH approved NH15 emergency hoods.
