Avon launches new respiratory portfolio at HOSDB

f53
Avon Protection will be launching its CE approved FM53 respiratory system at the Home Office Scientific Development Branch (HOSDB) exhibition in March. To coincide with the launch, demonstrations of this, and other key products, will inform visitors of the key benefits of each solution in different threat situations.

The FM53 has been specifically designed to fight the multiple threats today’s modern soldier faces when in the field. With the added benefit of CE and NIOSH (for its US counterpart the M53) certification, users from both the military and civil sectors now have a mask that they can use in any given CBRN situation without the need to change equipment. It is therefore the only mask of its kind, offering the highest levels of comfort and protection against traditional chemical and biological warfare agents, select Toxic Industrial Materials (TIMs) and particulate matter. The highly flexible FM53 can be used as a standalone APR, or as a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) or Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus (CCBA) depending upon requirements. It is currently being trialled and tested by a number of European police forces, and is already in use with UK and US Specialist Units and a number of leading Specialist Forces worldwide.

Alongside the FM53 will be Avon’s entire single use CBRN hood family, including the CE approved EH20 and the NIOSH certified NH15 Emergency Hoods. Both hoods are the ideal companion for groups such as the emergency services and fire officers who need to withdraw from a CBRN situation quickly and efficiently. The clear material each is designed from allows for a wide and clear view of the scene as well as easy recognition of colleagues and the injured. The EH20 has been designed to provide a high level of respiratory, eye and face protection for a minimum of 20 minutes, whilst the NH15 protects for a minimum of 15 minutes. Both require minimal training and can be easily donned, making them perfect for a quick retreat. The EH20 is currently being used by various UK police forces, while the NH15 has been procured for the Winter Olympics.

Matt Evans, Sales & Marketing Director at Avon Protection, explains: “Here at Avon, we continue to design and manufacture next generation respiratory systems for the future user based around exact requirements and specifications. The recently acquired CE approval for the FM53 mask is testament to the hard work and desire of Avon’s team to bring about changes that open new markets and improve the already high quality standards we work towards. It is this attention to every detail that will keep us at the highest pinnacle of excellence for years to come.”
